The Juniors had one win an one loss in the Grand Finals played on 10th September down at Southern Districts.
The Under 13 team ran out winners 55-5 over Melbourne to claim both the Minor and Major Premierships. It was a shaky start with Melbourne scoring first to take the early lead but after that Harlequins maintained continuity of possession with hard work at the breakdown and some great running rugby, with one try scored off the back of ten phases of possession. Quins player Seb Sialau was announced Man of the Match amongst terrific performances across the whole team. The win was a great reward for a team that has trained hard and been pressing for a premiership for the last three years.
In the U12A’s, Wyndham City ran over the top of the Quins boys for us to go down 14-44. The boys put up an excellent effort, keeping Wyndham scoreless for the majority of the first half before a strong Wyndham team took control of the game. The boys managed two tries which considering Wyndham only had six tries scored against them all year was quite a feat.
The only disappointing fact is we gave them two or three very cheap tries but the boys fought hard to the very end.
The club was also awarded the VRU JUNIOR CLUB OF THE YEAR award which was great recognition for the work of many people including Neale Wright, the Chair of Juniors and Vanessa Pengelly, Junior Coordinator.
