Harlequin Juniors - Round 1
2nd May 2015
The U12A’s arrived early Saturday morning to warm up before the much anticipated first game of the season against Power House. The team had had a warm up game against Endeavour Hills the week before, with many new players and others playing in positions for the first time.
From the kick off it became evident that the boys had blown away the cobwebs as they started strongly. Ewan started where he left off last season with his now typical stepping magic, whilst Simon carried the ball forward at ever opportunity. After some great attacking rugby Tai (his 1st for Quins) scored the first try in the corner. Will took over Simon’s role as the ball runner and Jabril kept tackling like a demon.
After constant sniping around the scrums and rucks Aseri (his 1st for Quins) was rewarded with our second try. Aseri’s persistence again paid off when he scored another try near the posts for Lachie to convert. Isaac (Captain) was leading the forwards well with Michael tackling any Power House forward who managed to make a break. Powerhouse then mounted a sustained attack and the boys failed to stop them scoring a well deserved try.
This only sparked the boys to go again and after some great tackling by Sebastian and Scott, Tai scored his second in the corner. This was quickly followed by another try to Deviah. 5 tries in the first showed the boys were switched on.
Lachie then came into his own stepping and weaving his way through Powerhouse players to score a long range try. Eugene (his 1st for Quins) did not want to miss out and powered through their defence to add another.
Daniel did not let anyone run around him on the wing, Charlie was spreading it wide and Angus and Cormac were running it hard and straight. After Will came tantalisingly close Ted was reward for his solid work in the forwards after diving over the pack to score with Lachie converting. After a barging run by Eugene and a pass to Simon he reached over the line to add another.
Aseri closed the game out with our final 2 tries. Special mention to Aseri with 4 tries in his first game for Harlequins.
Great win against a gallant Power House 54-5.
Tries : Aseri 4, Tai 2, Deviah, Eugene, Jay, Simon, Ted

Thanks to ALL the parents, grand parents, brothers and sisters who watched us play our teams opening game of the 2015 season against Moorabin.
We didn't have a good first half, we weren't tackling well and our cleaning out wasn't that good either.
At half time we were down 14-10. Our coach had a chat to us at half time and said we had to do three things, tackle, clean out and run hard. In the second half we did what he asked. We ended up winning 31-14.
We had 5 great tries, 3 conversions.
Everyone had a great game especially those who played their first game. What a good way to start the season.
