Harlequin Juniors - Round 8 2016
27th Jun 2016
On the cold frigid morning of the 25th of June, the Under 16s Harlequins players left the comfort of their warm homes and went to face the Moorabbin Rams away in the cold harsh, unforgiving wind. Before the match in the locker room the moral was high with Atu, Mark and Nick’s motivational words of wisdom on how to play the game our way. We kicked off at 10:45 and prepared for what lay ahead.
The match was a physical one for our forwards who held back the beating of Moorabbin’s forwards. Within the first five minutes Moorabbin scored against us, yes this downed our hopes but we as a team never gave up, we came back charging with an excellent try, scored by one of our centres Clarence. Just before half time our team made the fateful decision to take a penalty kick instead of a scrum, but we got the three points thanks to Sam.
We had our half time break, and more motivational words to boost our moral leading into the second half. During the second half we played better as a team with the forwards and the backs working in unison with each other, in doing so allowed big runs and breaks by Atu, Oris, Sam, Jeremiah, Clarence, Charlie and Nick which etched us closer to the try line. In the second half Atu scored two magnificent tries breaking through Moorabbin’s defence. Sam Scored two tries putting us further in the lead. Sam was also successful in knocking over all 4 conversions for the tries scored in the second half.
Another special mention goes out to Jayden who during the game was tackling and rucking to great effect against the opposition. Due to the effort and contribution by all of us lead to the final score of 36 -24 in our favour.
Our first away win of the season.
Well done boys we should be proud of what we have achieved so far in the season and further strive to succeed in future games against harder opposition. Thank you also to the coaches who have continually provided guidance to the team and have supported us so far in the season.
Finally thank you to Meri who if it wasn’t for her we wouldn’t be organised and prepared for our games and training sessions each week.

It was a cold rainy morning in Moorrabin this week. As the under Quins 12 Maroon played the Rams.
Darcy scored the fist try from a pick and go early in the match and Blair converted it. Then about 5 minutes later Blair scored a great try in the corner. After half time it was 12-0 Quins way.
In the second half there was lots of tries scored most of them going to the Rams. The try scorers in the second half were Blair 2, Jeremiah 1, Tom B 1, Sione 1.
The end score was 34-21. Quins won but there where 3 converted tries conceded. Overall a great game and next week we are going to work on our defensive line.

It's seems all the good teams of the weekend put in their best, but came up the wrong side of the scoreline, Australia, Ireland, the Brexit vote and the under 12 blue's..... We tried hard but fell short!!!
Yesterday I think that we played very well and considering we were short on players and to rely on the under 11s we fought hard. We ended up with two converted tries, both in the second half and we were coming home strong but the whistle got us in the end.
Let's enjoy the break and come back to finish off the season strongly.
