Senior Rugby

The Senior club has continued their success over the last decade that has yielded four 1st Grade Dewar Shield Premierships, five Colts (U20) Premierships, two 2nd Grade and one 3rd Grade Premiership - all Senior teams featured in the 2019 Finals series with Colts, 2nds and 3rds making the Grand Final with Colts being the only Premiership side for 2019. Our women's team, a joint venture with Box Hill Rugby club named the Box Hill Quins Raiders played in finals in 2019 and are looking to build on the year ahead for 2020. The strength across the Senior Grades in addition to the strength on the Junior Club which produced 2 Premiership teams saw the club win the 2019 Rugby Victoria Club Championship, the Cowper Shield as the top club in the state for a 4th consecutive year - a first in our history.

The clubs success correlated to higher honors for a number of players with Quins players gaining regular selection in the Melbourne Rising NRC squad which is led by former Quins head Coach Pom Simona. The club has two players in the present Brumbies Super Rugby squad in Rob Valetini and Murray Douglas, former quins Hunter Paisami is with the Qld Reds Super Rugby team, club junior Trevor Hosea is contracted to the Melbourne Rebels and former junior and 1st Grade player Afa Amosa is with Bordeaux IN France and was part of the Samoan RWC team in Japan. The club also boasted 8 Rebels U19 representatives in 2019 and current club member Isaac Adeo Kailea is a member of the Junior Wallabies squad for 2020.

A highly qualified coaching team with a strong support network of physios, S&C and team managers is a strong club focus to ensure players in al our teams receive the best preparation possible to maximise the teams' and the individuals' performance.

The club appreciates that not all players are looking to play seriously but simply looking for a social outlet, a bit of exercise or a way to meet new mates in a new city and we strongly welcome all new social club players. New players to the game of rugby are also very welcome to come and get into the action. With 6 senior teams, there is a team and standard for everyone and a strong club culture through all teams is the basis of Quins continued success.
