We are committed to providing an inclusive family friendly environment for players and teams to have fun and realise their potential.
To deliver on our purpose we focus on:
Our culture and social environment: an important part of the experience is being part of the Quins community at training, on match days and at social events. We encourage players and families to enjoy training night and match day meals together in our clubhouse – a great venue that was built by our members for our members. In the cold Melbourne winter nights, we have the open fireplace providing a warm focal point in the clubhouse. We hold regular junior social events, including hosting Melbourne Rebels players at the Club, and enjoy watching Super Rugby and Test Matches rugby on our big screens. Harlequins embraces, celebrates and enjoys the diverse cultures of our people and is proud to have 2nd and 3rd generation families at our club.
Our values: We focus on instilling a culture of respect, teamwork, commitment and resilience. We encourage, reinforce and expect behaviours from our players, families and volunteers to provide a positive environment for everyone.
High quality coaching, rugby participation and development: The development of our players is important, from those who are new to rugby through to the more experienced players. Our commitment to helping boys and girls realise their potential and have fun is supported by fully accredited and specialist coaches and passionate volunteers. Our program aligns with the Senior grades in the club and many of our junior players go on to play in the senior grades.
Player welfare and safety: We have accredited first aid support at training and on match days, smart rugby qualified coaches and a Head of Welfare to help drive a supportive and safe environment.
A pathway to senior and elite level rugby: We develop and provide opportunities for players to pursue elite pathways and transition to senior rugby, whilst being conscious that this is not everyone’s objective. We have 2 former juniors and colts in the current Wallabies squad, 3 former juniors and colts in the current Melbourne Rebels squad and numerous players playing professionally in Australia and overseas. In 2022 we had over 20 players across Melbourne Rebels Academy and underage representative teams.
Through all of this, we want to make sure all the junior boys and girls have fun and families feel part of the club.
